B rianne Straka is Co-Managing Partner in Quinn Emanuel’s Chicago office. Her practice focuses on high-stakes complex commercial litigation and intellectual property disputes with an emphasis on high-tech patent litigation. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts, the International Trade Commission, and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Brianne has examined witnesses at trial, argued extensively in federal courts around the country, and deposed technical experts and corporate executives. In recent years, she has worked on several high profile cases, including Qualcomm v. Apple and Huawei v. Verizon achieving successful verdicts and settlements for her clients. Brianne regularly works on cases involving complex intellectual property issues, including FRAND licensing, standards setting, patent exhaustion, antitrust, and unfair competition. She applies her background in electrical engineering and software design to help her client solve complex technical disputes. Her cases have dealt with a wide variety of technologies and industries, including disputes concerning memory design, power control circuitry, cellular communications, spinal implants, polyethylene implants, antivirus software, backup and recovery software, drug eluting stents, medical infusion pumps, queuing software, flameless candles, temporary stadium seating, and clothing design. Brianne is a natural leader. In her role as Co-Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel’s Chicago Office, she is focused on ensuring that associates are able to grow and thrive in their careers. Brianne has spearheaded training for associates in Chicago and for the

intellectual property litigation group. Brianne has also participated in the firm’s Diversity Committee. She works with her clients and the firm to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion. Brianne endeavors to recruit attorneys from all backgrounds to the firm, and ensures that her cases are also staffed by diverse attorneys. She formally mentors several attorneys within the firm, including several diverse associates. Brianne also regularly mentors students through both the Notre Dame and Northwestern alumni associations. Brianne has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine. She is an active member of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law where she serves on the executive board of the Chicago Chapter and as a Co-chair of the Community Outreach Committee. She is also a member of Chief, an organization focused on connecting and supporting women executive leaders. During law school, Brianne was a member of the Northwestern University Law Review where she served as an Executive Editor of the Northwestern University Law Review Online (formerly known as the Northwestern University Law Review Colloquy ). She participated in the law school’s Supreme Court Clinic where she assisted with petitions for certiorari and merits briefs for clients with cases before the United States Supreme Court. She also participated in Northwestern Law’s Julius H. Miner Moot Court competition. Prior to law school, Brianne designed and developed software for enterprise document management systems at a consulting firm in Chicago.
