James F. Ormond James F. Ormond is a Chief Assistant Cor- poration Counsel with the City of Chicago Department of Law, Torts Division. He over- sees and defends the City of Chicago and its employees in personal injury actions, in- cluding wrongful death, paramedic malprac- tice, motor vehicle, police pursuit, and prem- ises cases. Since joining the Torts Division in 2004, Mr. Ormond has tried in excess of forty-five trials to verdict. He previously re - ceived a Jury Verdict Reporter Trial Lawyer Excellence Awards in 2013 and 2017. Prior to coming to the City, Mr. Ormond worked as an associate in large Amlaw100 law firms specializing in the area of insur - ance coverage and director and officer liability. He obtained his law degree, with honors, from Notre Dame Law School, and obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University.
