2024 ILLINOIS ATTORNEYS TO WATCH

C ole Munvez gets on base for his clients. Whether it’s a home run, single or walk – he delivers. In 2019, he truly made his mark, winning an $18 million dollar jury verdict for his client. That win, alongside his already impressive legal skills and courtroom presence, announced that Munvez was an attorney to watch in the personal injury field. The numbers tell the tale: Since turning his practice to plain- tiff's work in 2017, Munvez has tried to verdict or settled cases with a value of more than $50 million. That's a testament to the hard work and passion he puts in for his clients and his commit- ment to earning the best results for them. "In my judgment, large verdicts and settlements alone are not an accurate measure of an attorney's skill," said John Coleman, attorney with Chicago's Hennessy & Roach. "Cole has continued to distinguish himself as a serious, industrious advocate for his clients. Judges, juries and his opponents recognize his respect- ful nature and understand that he will be meticulously prepared to present his case." Before becoming a plaintiff’s attorney, Munvez worked as an in- surance defense and medical malpractice attorney for four years. While gaining important skills and experience, the defense-side of litigation lacked the passion Munvez required. He had the cour- age to start over and switch sides – and has since racked up an impressive list of victories. Representing and telling the story of human beings wronged by corporations is the fuel to Cole’s fire. There was that $18 million verdict in federal court against a

trucking company in a wrongful death case. Munvez has also earned an $8 million settlement against a hospital in a medical malpractice wrongful death case involving post-surgical care and a $5.7 million settlement for a union bricklayer who fell of his ladder and broke his hip. He has numerous multi-million-dol- lar settlements and verdicts in construction, trucking, and med- ical malpractice cases. And in a case that made the news, Munvez handled multiple consolidated cases in which he secured total settlements of $3.3 million for children and adults who suffered leg injuries while using a dangerous large spiral slide at Chicago's Maggie Daley Park. The slide has since been removed. "Cole impressed me by how well-prepared, and highly pro- fessional he was in the conduct of our litigation, whether it be numerous fact, medical or expert depositions, or motions," said Gerald Donoghue, managing attorney with the Chicago Transit Authority. "Cole consistently demonstrated a deep knowledge of the relevant law, sound judgment in his argu- ments and thorough preparation."
