B lake Roter is a trusted advisor who formulates and imple- ments litigation strategies to obtain the best results for his clients. Roter, a thoughtful and inquisitive counselor specializing in complex commercial and insurance coverage litigation, has suc- cessfully handled a wide variety of litigation matters over his career. James Geoly, general counsel with the Archdiocese of Chica- go, said that he spent four years working with Roter on a par- ticularly sensitive case while working together at Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella. As a mid-level associate, Roter was given primary responsibility for all aspects of this case and devised a strategy which “methodically undermined every pillar of the other side's case until there was literally nothing left," Geoly said. "He did a masterful job taking the other side's case apart, especially through depositions," Geoly explained. "Then he won important motions in court. Ultimately, the case settled on very favorable terms due to Blake's work." Ted Becker, an attorney with the Chicago office of McDer- mott Will & Emery, has worked closely with Roter on insurance coverage issues in which Roter has a history of earning excep- tional results for their shared clients. Roter recently employed a multi-pronged strategy to obtain payment for significant out- standing and ongoing legal fees for a shared client through ne- gotiation, short of litigation. "Blake can work equally and cooperatively with BigLaw lawyers in New York and Chicago and leaders of small ESOP companies, trustee firms and independent company directors throughout the country," Becker said.

Blake is a lawyer who truly sees the forest through the trees. ”

Dan Brenner, Senior Vice President of Construction Adminis- tration and Deputy General Counsel of The NRP Group, a large multifamily real estate development and construction company, called Roter “one of my most trusted advisors and counselors.” Roter serves on his firm’s Associate Mentoring and Business Development and Marketing Committees. Outside the office, Roter serves in numerous roles for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) including as a National Commissioner and Chair of the Midwest Regional Board’s Nominating Committee. He is also a member of the National Young Leadership Cabinet of the Jew- ish Federations of North America and serves on the Board of Directors of The Standard Club. Roter was also part of a team that worked collaboratively on a pro bono case with the Chica- go Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights (“CLCCR”) which led, in part, to Burke Warren being named “Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year” by the CLCCR in 2023. “Blake is a lawyer who truly sees the forest through the trees,”said another nominator. “He always keeps his eye on the ultimate objective, a fair resolution of the dispute on terms that make sound business sense for his client.”
