40 Under Forty 2024

2024 ILLINOIS ATTORNEYS TO WATCH

In the early part of our careers, one of the greatest challenges is to become recognized — by our clients, by our colleagues, by the community at large. Rec- ognition boosts confidence and attracts work. That’s why being named one of the 40 Under 40 made such a difference to me, as I know it does to others. Earning that distinction, from a professional and reputable pub- lication like the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, helped put me on the map in my hometown legal community. I will always be grateful for the honor. GIL M. SOFFER Chairman, Katten Muchin

It not only opened doors to new opportunities but also led to the development of last- ing professional and personal relationships. I still vividly recall a partner congratulating me and welcoming me to the club, a gesture that resonated deeply. Now, I find great fulfillment in welcoming new honorees, continuing the tradition of connection and support within this esteemed group. Being a 40 Under Forty hon- oree is one of the highlights of my career. This award provided me with credentials that helped build my career and my legal practice, but it also taught me that there is more to being a good lawyer than billing hours. If you read the bios of the recipients, each of us is giving back to the legal community in some way, whether by advanc- ing diversity, promoting young lawyers, handling pro bono mat- ters or doing other work that advances the standards of pro- fessionalism in Illinois. Although it has been more than 10 years since I was recognized, I am still proud to be part of this group and thank Law Bulletin for this incredible honor.

One of the highlights of my career was being named a 40 Under Forty honoree. Being recognized by attorneys you admire and respect is always a humbling but rewarding experience. It also encourag- es us to set an example for our peers and live up to the highest standards of the law. I am happy that 40 Under Forty gives young lawyers something to strive for as they progress in their legal career. Each year, I look forward to reading about the new 40 Under Forty class who are honored for their ac- complishments - It’s always nice to see some fresh new faces being recognized and not just reading about the Pat Salvis, Joe Powers and Bob Cliffords of the world!
