LAUREN PARK

AGE: 33 FIRM : Levin & Perconti LAW SCHOOL : Loyola University Chicago School of Law

AREA(S) OF PRACTICE: Plaintiff's personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse

L auren Park has already built a reputation as a relentless advocate for patients and families navigating some of the most traumatic moments of their lives. Park focuses her practice on medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and neglect, wrongful death and personal injury litigation. She manages complex cases from initial investigation through resolution, combining her tireless work ethic with a command of complicated medical issues. This combination has produced a string of significant recoveries for her clients. She secured a $7.075 million settlement for the family of a 32-year-old father of two who died after urgent care and hospi- tal providers failed to properly manage his diabetic ketoacidosis and protect his airway. Park also earned a $5.012 million settle- ment for the family of a 60-year-old man whose fatal cardiac tamponade followed the failure to timely diagnose a penetrating aortic ulcer. Other notable results include a $3 million pre-suit wrongful death settlement against a cancer care center that failed to act on critically abnormal lab results, $2 million in policy-limit settlements arising from a fatal hypoxic brain injury during den- tal sedation. “Lauren is what a lawyer should be. She is exception- ally knowledgeable in her field, and is also highly intuitive,

anticipating and rebuffing almost all defenses thrown to protect defendants. She would be the lawyer I would seek if I needed services in her realm,” said Robert Farley of Parsky & Galloway, who has litigated against Park. Park also defended an appeal from the denial of a motion to compel arbitration, successfully arguing that a nursing home resident’s death terminated the entire contract, including its ar- bitration clause. The published opinion is now part of a line of Illinois decisions limiting nursing home arbitration. Beyond her casework, Park has emerged as a leader in the Illinois legal community. She served three years as co-chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s Young Lawyers Division, now chairs its Nursing Home Committee, and sits on the ISBA’s Young Lawyers Division Council. “Lauren is laser-focused on her goal of achieving justice for her clients,” said Andrew Thut with Chicago’s Thut Law Group. “She is a supremely organized tactician and knowl- edgeable about the law, which makes her an indispensable trial team member.” Michael Walsh with Chicago’s Kitch Attorneys & Counselors, has faced Park as defense counsel in multiple cases. “She is a staunch advocate for her clients but she also possesses a level of professionalism well beyond her years of experience.”
