M olly McGinley is a litigation attorney who concentrates her practice on commercial litigation with a focus on complex litigation, including class action defense and derivative litigation. In her practice, Molly represents a broad variety of clients ranging from small private companies to global public companies in a variety of industries, including apparel, automotive, energy, financial services, food and beverage, healthcare, and technology. Molly also serves as Honigman’s Practice Group Leader for Products, Privacy and Class Action Litigation. Molly's class action experience includes representing clients nationally in actions under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) and other similar state laws, the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, and consumer fraud statutes. In addition to her litigation work, Molly frequently advises clients with respect to compliance with telemarketing and biometric privacy laws. She also represents publicly held corporations in complex securities derivative and class action lawsuits in various jurisdictions. In addition to her practice, Molly is dedicated to giving back to her community. She serves on the advisory board of Big Careers Little Kids, an organization dedicated to connecting Chicago's female professionals to empower them as they navigate balancing their evolving professional careers in law, finance, and business with their personal roles as parents. Molly is a recognized thought leader whose speaking and writing engagements cover a wide range of topics, including biometric privacy, telemarketing regulation, and class action securities
litigation. She also holds a Certified Information Privacy Professional/ United States (CIPP/US) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Her professional excellence and leadership have been recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business through multiple awards. In 2021, she was named one of the publication’s “Notable Gen X Leaders in Accounting, Consulting, and Law,” in recognition of her leadership, pro bono dedication, and influence in the legal community. The year prior, she was celebrated among Crain’s “Notable Women in Law” for her commitment to mentorship and her advocacy for women across the industry. Molly earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. There, she served as the Editor-In-Chief of the Loyola University of Chicago Law Journal. Following law school, Molly clerked for Judge Mary Anne Mason in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. In 2006, Molly joined Bell, Boyd & Lloyd as an Associate, which following a merger in 2009, became the Chicago office of K&L Gates. In 2022, Molly joined Honigman where she currently serves as a Partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. Molly lives in Roscoe Village with her husband, David; two sons, Breck and Patrick; and dog, Lillipup (named after one of her sons’ favorite Pokémon). She is a classically trained violinist, but now enjoys playing and singing with local bands. In her spare time, she treasures visiting her extended family and enjoying Chicago’s beautiful summer weather.
