JULIE WORKMAN VICE CHAIR, NATIONAL REAL ESTATE PRACTICE Saul Ewing LLP

A skillful attorney and natural leader, Julie Workman serves as a Vice Chair of Saul Ewing's National Real Estate Practice. Drawing on more than two decades of experience (which includes serving as in-house counsel for an international hotel company and a national homebuilder), Julie helps clients carry their complex commercial and residential projects from concept to completion. Her work begins with negotiating contracts for property acquisitions and dispositions and quarterbacking multidisciplinary teams consisting of developers, landowners and consultants in pursuit of entitlements and zoning approvals from government agencies. Once approvals are secured, Julie helps move projects to the ground-breaking stage by drafting and negotiating development agreements, easements, and construction contracts, and finally readies them for operation by drafting and negotiating property management agreements and leases for office, retail, industrial and restaurant tenants. Julie represents a national homebuilder on land development matters, and is currently leading acquisitions and land use approvals for several single family and townhome developments in the suburbs of Chicago. In addition, she is pursuing land use approvals for an industrial project in Schiller Park and for a manufactured home community in Grundy County. On the leasing side, Julie recently represented a multi-billion dollar investment brokerage firm with regard to the negotiation and execution of their new office lease in downtown Chicago. She is also active in pro bono work – currently representing Cooperation Racine, an artist cooperative working to

provide opportunity and prosperity to Black and Brown communities, in connection with zoning approvals for a new live-work space on the South Side of Chicago. Julie is thoughtful and strategic in her leadership of the firm's Chicago real estate group. A natural mentor and teacher, she is dedicated to pulling others up – not only spending one-on-one training time with younger female associates, but actively giving them independent client-facing opportunities to lead discussions, present at public meetings and participate in marketing events and pitches. Julie regularly includes colleagues in key opportunities – ensuring they feel supported to showcase their expertise. Julie’s leadership extends well beyond the firm. She has served on the La Grange Zoning Board of Appeals for over two years, and is an active member of the La Grange Area Historical Society Board of Directors. In addition, she actively gives back through her work with The Goldie Initiative – a non-profit that empowers women pursuing graduate degrees in commercial real estate. Julie currently serves as a member of the Governance Committee, and has been part of the Goldie Scholar Selection process for several years. Julie has also served as a mentor with The Goldie Initiative – helping the next generation of women leaders prepare for the challenges and opportunities they face in the commercial real estate industry. Julie recently joined CREW Chicago, the local chapter of the non- profit dedicated to advancing women in commercial real estate, and is looking forward to volunteering with the CREW Network.
